How to Fish in WarFrame

Warframe is a very popular online third-person shooter action RPG that promises to deliver fast-paced run-and-gun gameplay for its players. Despite combat being the main focus, it isn’t the only activity that you can do in Warframe.

How to Fish in WarFrame

In this article, we’ll show you how to fish in Warframe and give you all the information you’ll need to do so. It won’t be long until you become an established angler in the Warframe universe.

How to Fish in Warframe?

Fishing isn’t immediately an option when you start a game. There are quite a few steps that you need to take, and we’ll detail them here. Fishing itself can only be done in the open world known as Landscapes in-game. The first one is the Plains of Eidolon on Earth, and to get there, do the following:

  1. First and foremost, you’ll need to finish the questline Vor’s Prize. Once you have your ship fully functional, head to Earth.
  2. Once on Earth, complete missions until you get the Junction to Mars checkpoint. This will open the Cetus hub.
  3. Enter Cetus and leave through the gates. This will bring you to the Plains of Eidolon – the first open-world Landscape that allows fishing.

The Factions

Several landscapes allow fishing in Warframe, each with its own types of fish, and fishing gear. They also have different factions which you’ll need to build standing with to buy equipment. These factions and the associated landscapes are as follows:

  1. Ostron in Cetus: The Plains of Eidolon Hub on Earth.
  2. Solaris United in Fortuna: Orb Vallis on Venus
  3. Entrati in the Necralisk: Cambion Drift on Deimos

How to Fish in Warframe on PC?

If you’re on a Landscape map and still haven’t gotten your fishing gear, or want to upgrade press ‘’M’’ to bring up the map. Look for a Fish icon. This will represent the NPC for that area that sells the fishing items. Make sure you have the appropriate Rank and enough Standing to buy items. With them in tow, proceed to do the following:

  1. Equip the Fishing Spear in your Arsenal. You don’t need to equip more than one spear or bait as this will appear in the fishing menu if at least one fishing spear is equipped.
Do this by accessing the Arsenal at the lower deck of your ship and pressing ‘’X,’’ or by pressing ‘’Esc,’’ clicking on ‘’Equipment,’’ then on ‘’Arsenal.’’
  2. Locate a large body of water. Remember that different fish can be found depending on the size of the fishing hotspot. It can also change depending on location, day/night cycle, and weather.
  3. Once near a fishing hotspot, equip your spear. Press ‘’Q’’ to open the radial menu, then choose the fishing spear. Bait and dyes can be thrown by using the 1, 2, or 3 keys. Do note that special skills can’t be used while a spear is equipped.
  4. Wait for a fish to appear. Crouching may help as fish can be scared by nearby activity. The default crouch button is ‘’Ctrl.’’
  5. Aim your spear using the right mouse button. When you have a fish in your sights, throw your spear with the left mouse button.
  6. That’s it. If you hit a fish, you automatically catch it. You can now bring it back to the hub to exchange for Standing or harvest it for resources.

How to Fish in Warframe on Xbox?

Fishing in Warframe for Xbox is the same as it is on the PC, only the button assignment is different:

  2. Head to a body of water.
  3. Open the Radial menu and equip the spear.
  4. When you spot a fish, use the Left trigger to aim, and the Right trigger button to throw the spear.

How to Fish in Warframe on PS4?

As with Xbox, Fishing is the same in the PS4 version of Warframe. The only difference is the button mapping. To fish on the PS4, do the following:

  2. Find a body of water.
  3. Open the Radial menu then equip your spear.
  4. Wait for fish to appear. Use the L2 to aim then R2 to throw the spear.

How to Fish in Warframe on Switch?

Similar to the other platforms, all the instructions for fishing on the PC, Xbox, and PS4 carry over to the Switch. All that’s different is the button mapping. The instructions are:

  1. Equip your fishing spear in the Arsenal. You can either go to your lower deck, then press ‘’Y,’’ or press the Menu button, choose ‘’Equipment,’’ then ‘’Arsenal.’’
  2. Locate a body of water.
  3. Open the Radial menu then equip your spear.
